Prilidiano Paz Pueyrredón (1823-1870) fue uno de los principales pintores argentinos del Siglo XIX, reflejando los distintos fenómenos sociales de uno de los períodos fundacionales de este país.

PRILIDIANO (que firmaba sus obras como P.P.P, se formó en Europa durante los tres viajes que realizó sea por exilio político familiar o personal, estudiando arquitectura y arte en distintos talleres.

Ya en Buenos Aires estableció sus talleres para ya como pintor profesional, trabajar, mostrar su arte y enseñar el oficio a quienes a la postre fueron sus discípulos.

La difusión del arte para mejorar la sociedad que inspiró a muchos en la segunda parte del siglo XIX la realizó a través de la publicación de su obra en los distintos medios gráficos de la época, además de exhibirla en espacios todavía informales.

Como señala la reseña del Museo, fue gracias a su padre, el General Juan Martín de Pueyrredón, quien había participado de las luchas por la Independencia, que Prilidiano tuvo una relación cercana con los principales personajes de su época, que se transformaron en los comitentes de sus pinturas, en especial de los retratos.

La muestra exhibe obras sobre los diversos paisajes que recorrió, vistas europeas y la costa bonaerense, además de escenas de costumbres, donde representó personajes típicos, lavanderas, pescadores, y al gaucho en un amplio repertorio de tradiciones rurales.

Una muestra imperdible para todos aquellos que visiten Buenos Aires que se suma a otros “clásicos” del Museo en la sala contigua como es “Sin Pan y Sin Trabajo” de Ernesto De La Carcova que reflejan la misma época.

Prilidiano Paz Pueyrredón (1823-1870) was one of the main Argentine painters of the 19th century, reflecting the different social phenomena of one of the founding periods of this country. As the Museum’s review points out, it was thanks to his father, General Juan Martín de Pueyrredón, who had participated in the fights for Independence, that Prilidiano had a close relationship with the main characters of his time, who became the clients. of his paintings, especially the portraits.

The exhibition exhibits works about the various landscapes he visited, European views and the Buenos Aires coast, as well as scenes of customs, where he represented typical characters, washerwomen, fishermen, and the gaucho in a wide repertoire of rural traditions.
