Basada en hechos reales la película del director Alejandro Gómez Monteverde cuenta la odisea de la misionera lombarda Francesca Cabrini, nacida para cumplir la misión de Dios y fundadora de Instituto de las Hermanas del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús.
Con el aval del Papa, León XIII, Cabrini recorrió un largo camino de Italia a Estados Unidos con el fin de evangelizar y educar a niños en América.
En el Nuevo Mundo y aún con el establishment en contra por ser mujer en un ambiente de hombres, Cabrini creó un orfanato y una escuela en el pobre y violento barrio de inmigrantes italianos en la Nueva York de finales del siglo XIX, enfrentando sola la oposición más férrea con la fuerza de su espíritu.
Su incansable labor la elevaría años después al status de Santa.

Es una vuelta a las producciones de los 90’ donde todo importaba: la historia contada, la increíble estética y fotografía de época, la banda sonora y la actuación impecable de Cristiana Dell’Anna, y del enorme Giancarlo Giannini, secundados por el siempre vigente David Morse.

“Cabrini” debería ser sin miedo a decirlo la película ganadora de los próximos premio de la Academia, si estos premiaran al séptimo arte y no lo políticamente correcto…
Uno sale golpeado, en el buen sentido: Emocionado!
Es real, es buen cine, y la trama es parte de lo mejor de la historia del feminismo, raro de encontrar en la jungla de pirotecnia futurista
que nos ofrece la pantalla actual, con lentes, pop, lluvia y snobismo.

Esto es cine para pensar señores.
