Cuando uno entra a un café, a veces hay algún elemento distintivo del lugar, de la ciudad, o del ambiente, pero en el café Petit Colón, en la esquina de Lavalle y Libertad frente a Tribunales, todo lo que se ve y se siente es la esencia de Buenos Aires, como dice un galardón de los que cuelgan en la estupenda barra de madera y bronce del Petit Colón, punto clave de la identidad porteña.

Cuadros que recuerdan a dos grandes del tango, Marianito Mores y Cadícamo, retratos firmados por la gran bailarina argentina Paloma Herrera, una enorme pintura de la belle èpoque, un aparador Art Nouveau, al igual que los vitreaux y grandes lámparas de opalina con bronce, acercan a los visitantes a una época espléndida de la ciudad.

Su solidez, sus tapices en pared y la excelente atención hacen que este café tenga la denominación de “café notable”, que le ha dado el Gobierno de Buenos Aires.

Su cercanía al Teatro Colón o a la zona de teatros de la Avenida Corrientes lo hacen un buen lugar para vivir Buenos Aires.

CAFÉ PETIT COLON: ONE OF THE NOTABLES OF BUENOS AIRES

When one enters a café, sometimes there is some distinctive element of the place, of the city, or of the environment, but in the Petit Colón café, on the corner of Lavalle and Libertad in front of the Courts, everything that is seen and felt

It is the essence of Buenos Aires, as one of the awards hanging from the stupendous wooden and bronze bar of the Petit Colón, a key point of Buenos Aires identity, says.

Paintings reminiscent of two great tango artists, Marianito Mores and Cadícamo, portraits signed by the great Argentine dancer Paloma Herrera, a huge belle èpoque painting, an Art Nouveau sideboard, as well as stained glass and large opaline lamps with bronze, bring visitors closer to a splendid time in the city.

Its solidity, its wall hangings and the excellent service give this coffee the name of «remarkable coffee», which the Government of Buenos Aires has given it.

Its proximity to the Teatro Colón or the theater area of Avenida Corrientes make it a good place to experience Buenos Aires.
